On 11-02-2024 we had site Visit to Korattur & Patravakkam area along with S – Black representatives to assess the pollution and flooding of Otteri Nullah.
The following observation were made during our visit.
- Industrial Chemical effluent with toxic gases are diverted to Otteri Nullah
- During heavy rain surplus water is diverted to Otteri Nullah
- Also, during heavy rain, Korattur low laying area is getting submerged and water is diverted to Otteri Nullah using portable diesel driven pumps
- Storm Water drains from part of Padi & Korattur area found diverted to Otteri Nullah.
Following suggestions may be considered for pollution and flooding of Otteri Nullah
- Industrial chemical effluents to be analysed behind Sundaram fasteners where all effluents are joining and suitable treatment plant to be installed for proper treatment before discharging into Otteri Nullah
- Millions of residents are affected with various ailments due to chemical and toxic gases released along the course of Otteri Nullah upto Bainbridge where streem joins the North Buckingham canal
- For avoiding flooding of Otteri Nullah, Construction of suitable channel accross 100 feet road OR Park road may be considered for diverting surplus water into Cooum river instead of Otteri Nullah.
Also, as per WRD Manthara proper interlinking of Ambattur lake and Korattur lake to be considered for diverting surplus water from Paruthipattu, Avadi area and Ambattur lake into Korattur lake to avoid flooding of Otteri Nullah as shown in flow diagram.
Untreated effluents being discharged into canal at Pattaravakkam Industrial area near Godrej & Boyce.
This is the first pollutant of Otteri Nullah.

Special Committee Meeting
This is to inform you all the residents of our association that today by 6.00 PM we ( colony committee members ) had a special meeting at Naidu sir’s residence to discuss some urgent and important issues.
1. Most of the Cameras of our colony are not working, the cables are damaged and one DVR is corrupted due to power fluctuation. So we need to revamp the entire CCTV system and bring back in working condition. Mr. Guru sir had arranged and brought a person to the meeting who had already visited our colony last week and noted the requirement of material and he is going to check each and every camera and give us a quote for how many Cameras are needed to be replaced. By next week we can get a clear picture of the budget needed.
2. Secondly due to old age our present colony President Mr. Subramaniyan is not able to actively participate in our colony activities and also recently he fractured his leg. So he stays at his daughter’s house in Bangalore. We are finding it difficult to get his signature when ever needed. So the Committee has decided to propose and make Mr. Sridhar sir residing at Park Square Apartments, 7th Street as our colony Association President to work closely with everyone. Mr. Sridhar sir is an Industrialist and has got a factory at Ambattur. More than 100 people are working in his factory. He has voluntarily came forward to actively participate in our colony activities and can do any kind of help for the betterment of our colony. He is such a kind hearted person willing to help for the poor children’s education. We are proud to have such a nice person in our colony and also in the committee as an office bearer.
Let’s all jointly welcome Mr. Sridhar sir and support him.
