The presence of a TASMAC liquor store at the entrance of 18th Main Road was a constant source of irritation to residents of Vallalar Colony. The committee members of the Vallalar Colony Association made numerous appeals to the concerned authorities to close the TASMAC shop.

Residents of the colony felt that a liquor store in close proximity to a peaceful residential area posed several dangers. Therefore, a lot of pressure was put on authorities to close the TASMAC outlet.

After a long and consistent struggle, and with the help of some sympathetic officials, the shop was finally closed and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
