phase 2 diversion to Cooum from Imayam colony
Today 21-10-2026 at 03-00 pm, FOARA team attended the meeting at Korattur Kiran Mahal organised by Zone 7 GCC officials. Anna Nagar MLA Mr. V K Ramkumar and Ambattur MLA Mr. G Balamurugan also attended the meeting.
Meeting was conducted mainly to get public opinion for implementing phase 2 diversion to Cooum from Imayam colony.
FOARA team discussed the following points.
- Do not discharge Ambattur lake surplus water and Industrial effluents into Otteri Nullah. Divert TVS canal from Wheels India rear gate to Cooum.
- Once phase 2 is implemented, totally block the the phase 1 discharge into Otteri Nullah near Malar colony ( Do not install Shutter / Sluice gate)
- Avoid discharging of Sewerage into Otteri Nullah from UR Nagar etc
- Avoid discharging Industrial effluents into TVS canal. Industrial effluents are mainly from Ambattur, Pattaravakkam and Korattur.
- Study and install suitable effluent treatment plants as required ( ETP )
- Priority for installing 3 Balancing Railway culverts for diverting Ambattur lake surplus water into Korattur lake. This will give big relief on Otteri Nullah during monsoon.
